Smith joined PMI Europe almost two years ago following the closure of Verso, which was merged with Platform. Smith was involved with the creation and launch of Verso and headed the Sales, Product Development and Call Centre functions.
Smith, who has over 25 years experience in the lending industry, said he was delighted to be getting back into familiar territory and was looking forward to being part of the Buildstore team. Smith, who was UK Country Manager for PMI, one of the top global Mortgage Insurers, refused to comment if his leaving PMI was linked to the recent PMI acquisition of the Royal Sun Alliance Indemnity book. It is understood that very few of the RSA lenders moved forward with PMI. “My time with PMI was useful” said Smith. “I now have a greater understanding of risk that I ever had and, bearing in mind the regulation of mortgages, the enphasis on affordability and the Basel 2 implications for lenders on the horizon, that’s not a bad skill to have when you are responsible for sales and mortgage distribution”.
“Buildstore is unique in the market in which it operates. My aim is to ensure the Buildstore brand is well represented throughout the broker distribution channels. I really can’t wait to get stuck in!!
