Melanie Stewart, head of research at Moneyfacts, said: "Again Egg tops the MoneyFacts survey of best value mortgages, with its down-to-earth mortgage proposition focusing on fair pricing and simplicity. By leading the table for the third time, Egg can be commended for its commitment in offering its customers a consistently good deal."
The survey compared the total interest paid on a £100,000 standard variable rate mortgage, and found that Egg had the lowest cost standard variable rate of 35 of the UK’s leading mortgages lenders.
Andy Deller, banking and insurance director at Egg, said: "This survey highlights the clear consumer benefit of focusing on transparent deals which treat all customers as equals. Egg offers homeloans which are clear, honest and offer exceptional value. We only have one SVR which means new and existing borrowers get the same rate. We are delighted to be recognised as the UK’s best value provider of variable rate mortgages for the third time running."
