Earl Shilton Building Society (esbs) has welcomed Sheryl Lawrence (pictured) as a non-executive director.
As part of her non-executive director duties, Lawrence holds the post of chairman of the Risk and Compliance Committee and is a member of both the Assets and Liabilities Committee and the Remuneration Committee.
Lawrence has worked in audit, risk, compliance and governance roles at several high street financial institutions including Nationwide Building Society, and Coventry Building Society where she was head of risk.
Lawrence said: “I have always been interested in the building society sector because its mutual model provides the best incentive to operate in the interests of members.
“I believe esbs provides an invaluable service to its local community and offers mortgages based on individual circumstances.
“The level of professionalism belies its size and the genuine concern for staff and members is hugely admirable.”
Paul Tilley, chief executive of esbs, added: “Sheryl is an excellent addition to the esbs board and I am very pleased to welcome her to the team.
“Her vast experience means she has plenty to offer esbs and our members.”
