Central London-based broker Coreco has come up with what some would say is a barking mad idea to promote its services to clients - Bow the dog!
Bow, a Boston Terrier to be precise, will be helping Coreco to educate potential borrowers about how to start preparing for a mortgage in his own video which you can watch below.
Andrew Montlake, Coreco director, himself not normally muzzled either, said: "Why? Well, a while ago Coreco embarked on a journey to see what the biggest hold up was where mortgage applications were concerned. Why were some applications going through smoothly and quickly whilst others would move much slower?
"The main reason seemed to be down to making sure that all applicants have the right paperwork day one, which, whilst it sounds simple enough, was often harder than we thought. Many borrowers would not realise the real implications of the odd bank statement or pay slip being missed out.
"We then wanted to think of a way we could get this important aspect across to anyone even thinking about taking out a mortgage in a way that was not completely dull.
"So the concept of a dog emerged, but not just any dog. A dog who often despairs of how unorganised us humans can be and has the brain, the guile and the determination to get what he wants where his owner so often struggles.
"Then we saw Bow, or Mouse to give him his real name, with those big eyes, attitude and a look that says “share me” and here we are. The aim is to educate new borrowers in a different way."

Matt Lowndes, managing director of Coreco, said: “Anything we can do to improve the customer experience and help all applications move through to offer quickly and smoothly, benefits everyone.”
Montlake added: “The point is about ensuring that those looking to take out the biggest loan they will probably ever take out obtain professional advice and are fully prepared to embark on the mortgage journey, which these days is a little more complicated than just having a passport and a smile.
“In other words, it could be Coreco or it could be any number of the fine mortgage brokers around the country striving hard to help and advise clients every day of the week.”
Barking mad or not, it Mastiff taken their Bloodhound team of marketeersCiaosof Poodle-ingaround to come up with this idea. But can you do any better? What marketing material do you send out to your clients? Send your ideas in and we'll publish the best.
