Dawson will take over the position from IMLA’s current chairman John Maltby, chief executive of Kensington Group.
Maltby said: "I am delighted to be handing the role of chairman to Tim who has a wealth of experience in the mortgage industry. Tim will bring a fresh approach to IMLA which will compliment the newly appointed Management Committee. I am sure everyone will join me in offering their support to Tim as he embarks on this new role."
Maltby will be stepping down as IMLA chairman and will retain a seat on IMLA’s Management Committee alongside Tim Dawson, Guy Batchelor, sales and marketing director for Platform and John Heron, managing director of Paragon Mortgages.
