The lender has said it will be working with both firms to begin with, before opening up the service to the whole of the mortgage market in mid-July.
Salt’s product range had only previously been available through packagers and the move is part of a strategy to open itself up to the wider market.
Tony Capon, head of intermediary sales at Salt, said: “We are launching initially through Premier Mortgage Services and Mortgage Promotions before going direct to the whole of the industry on 16th July.”
The launch of the proposition was scheduled for April but was held up to ensure it offered the best service possible to brokers and iron out the process.
The service will be available through an online intermediary proposition, with full decisions-in-principle (DIPs) and application facilities available.
Salt has also announced plans to enhance its packager panel to coincide with the launch of the direct-to-broker service, with further packagers being added in the coming weeks.
Last month, c2 financial became the first of potentially six packagers to link up with the lender.
Mike Fry, director of Halton Insurance Service, said: “It has obviously found it needs to go direct-to-brokers. For me, if it doesn’t deal direct with brokers then I don’t deal with it because I don’t use packagers, as from past experience I found you often lost control and end up spending more as you pay an administration fee.”
