Expo: NI market 'faces challenging year'

Flattening house prices will leave advisers with a number of challenges to overcome said Alan Biddle, head of research at The Bank of Ireland's Business Banking UK.

However Biddle does not believe we will see such a pronounced downturn in the market that the UK spirals into a recession.

"2008 will see the economy moving into a slower lane. Average house prices dipped before Christmas but the biggest theme appears to be the inactivity in the market and the lack of transactions," he said.

"I expect transaction levels to remain sluggish and there will be slower economic growth as well as a lingering hangover from the credit crunch."
