He has been made redundant following an internal restructure to take account of current market conditions. The changes reflect the wider issues affecting its members and the mortgage market in general, according to AMI.
Director General Chris Cummings will resume the day to day management of AMI, supported by a five strong policy team. In addition to its ongoing lobbying with the regulator and government to promote and protect the mortgage intermediary community, AMI is also embarking on a consumer campaign to promote the value of mortgage advice. This will build on the success of its Value of Mortgage Advice research and ‘Fixing the Crunch' White Paper, both released earlier this year.
Cummings said: "Like all organisations in the mortgage industry, we need to regularly reappraise our structure and ongoing strategy. We need to ensure we meet the needs of our members, and represent their views effectively at the highest level.
"Part of our recent internal review was a look at our cost base. Like many others in the mortgage industry, we need to reduce costs and ensure resources are focused on the areas that will have most impact for our members.”
