A number has finally been put on the number of towns in the UK where prices are out of reach of first time buyers on average salaries – a staggering 92%. For those wanting to take that first step towards owning their own home, this can quite often mean taking out a large mortgage, getting together an enormous loan or being rather inventive.
In response to feedback from the market, www.FirstrungNow.com has launched its ‘Finding a Deposit’ service which offers practical advice on how to do just that.
This development of the service follows the new Shared Ownership Section explaining how shared ownership works and how to apply for it.
Director Helen Adams comments: “Looking at current property prices, the situation for AFTiBs (Aspiring First Time Buyers) is very tough at the moment – across the whole of the UK. When we launched our service just over a year ago, we specialised in giving advice on joint ownership, buying with a friend or member of the family, as a way into a first home – it has received almost a million hits since then and our service is much broader now, but with the same aim of helping people afford their first home. Dialogue with our visitors reveals that many of them see the first half of this year as a good buying opportunity – and with more and more people visiting the site every day this seems to be a widespread opinion”.
