Former Ageas UK chief executive Barry Smith has joined GIprovider Uinsure.
Smith, who led Ageas UK for over a decade before being madechief operating officer, has been appointed a non-executive director of Uinsure.
During his time at Ageas Smith was credited with establishing the largest insurance partnershipin the UK market in Tesco Underwriting and developed new insurance partnerships with someof the UK’s most trusted brands including John Lewis and Age UK.
He also led a number ofsuccessful acquisitions such as that of Groupama UK in 2012 and was awarded the lifetime achievement award at the British Insurance Awards in 2014.
Simon Taylor, chief executive officer at Uinsure, said: “We’ve made no secret of the fact wehave ambitious growth plans for Uinsure and over the last couple of years we have beenbolstering our team in order to support these plans. Smith will continue in his role as non-executive director onAgeas Boards in the UK, Portugal, Turkey and Italy.
