This is the eighth annual study of how UK mortgage lenders and Intermediaries use technology to automate the mortgage lending process.
The Benchmark Study is the only survey in the UK that analysis how lenders and intermediaries use internet technology to streamline the sales and application process.
The study is also the first to undertake detailed independent research into the usability of lender web sites from an intermediary perspective.
This year the Study will be in two parts, the first part will be the regular Benchmarking of Lender distribution and application processing systems.
The Study methodology for this part is based on lender responses to a written survey which has been developed over the last eight years on feedback from a number of Intermediary discussion forums held to evaluate the online process from an intermediary’s point of view.
The second part of the Study will provide detailed information on proprietary systems used by the mortgage industry in three categories: - Intermediary Sourcing Systems, Intermediary Point of Sale Systems and Lender sales and processing systems.
The information will be collected by way of a detailed questionnaire and the information will be set out in a matrix of functionality with comments from the providers detailing their technology, functionality and platform.
Frank Eve, managing director of Frank Eve Consulting, said: “This year’s study will show ‘best practice’ in all areas of mortgage distribution technology.
“The Study will focus on the challenges for the industry in meeting the needs of the regulators, whilst at the same time making the mortgage process more efficient.
“It will also look at the systems lenders use for detecting fraud and controlling their valuer and solicitor panels”
This Study will be the most comprehensive undertaken and will provide the definitive research into mortgage industry distribution technology.
The research will be conducted during August and September and the Study will be published in November.
Lenders and Intermediary systems providers will have an opportunity to take part in the first Mortgage Introducer Technology Awards which will be based on the results of the Study.
