There were 69,088 complaints about ‘home finance’ of which 6,921, or 10%, were about the advising, selling and arranging of home finance.
Regulated home finance products attracted 54,334 complaints, unregulated home finance products received 11,015 complaints and impaired credit mortgages received 3,209 complaints.
Equity release products attracted 530 complaints in the second half of last year.
Of the complaints 52,746 related to mortgage business, up from 29,917 in the first half of 2011.
There was a rise in the volume of complaints about ‘general insurance and pure protection’ which increased by 49% to 1,280,940. Most notably within this product group were the number of complaints about payment protection insurance which rose by 85% to 977,510.
The number of banking complaints were at their lowest level since 2006 H2 at 787,096. This is a 2% decrease on the previous half year and is 13% down on a year ago.
Within banking products, the percentage of complaints about current accounts dropped by 6% and there was a 12% reduction in the percentage of complaints about savings and other banking products.
