Addressing delegates at the Financial Services Expo Charles Haresnape, managing director of Aldermore, confirmed that the lender would be looking to take advantage of the scheme.
However Haresnape said it was unlikely that Aldermore would launch before January 1.
He said: “Aldermore will be part of the second phase of Help to Buy. We agree with the scheme and its objectives and believe that it is the right thing to do.
“We are set up to launch on January 1 and we will continue to work towards that date. However if we can launch earlier we will.”
Haresnape also expressed his disappointment at the early launch of the scheme. He said the Conservative’s early launch was clearly for political expedience and made the scheme look like a “knee jerk reaction”.
Prime Minister David Cameron launched Help to Buy some three months ahead of schedule last week.
