The second charge market is still getting to grips with affordability and brokers need to realise that its products are no longer a way around affordability, said Kent Reliance sales director Adrian Maloney.
Speaking at the FSE in Manchester Maloney was asked his predictions for the next quarter of 2016 and he predicted that it will be a period of bedding in for the industry.
He said: "The market is still getting to grips with the new rules and changes and as such it will take time for these rules to bed in.
"The seconds market still getting to grips with affordability and people now need to realise that our productsare not a way around them. People need to get on board with this."
He also prredicts that the big growth area could be around the buy-to-let sector.
He said: "There is a real opportunity in buy-to-let sectors and brokers could really benefit. It's a growth area which brokers need to keep an eye on."
