Intermediaries expect to sell more general insurance products in 2016, research from provider Select & Protect has found.
Three quarters (76.5%) predicted more GI sales and none expected sales to decrease.
Bruce Reid, commercial director, said: “We wanted to check the pulse of the mortgage intermediaries who we work with to better understand how they’re feeling about business prospects in the New Year, and specifically how strongly the sale of general insurance products will feature on their business agenda.
“It was hugely encouraging to learn that the majority of those we surveyed anticipate selling more general insurance products in 2016.”
Some advisers are considering expanding their GI offerings in 2016, as 15% said they would sell products such as standalone legal protection and home emergency, rent protection, landlords’ policies, commercial insurance and motor insurance.
