The nominations open today, don't delay…
The Scottish Mortgage Awards are back for 2025, coming to Edinburgh next June, but you don’t have to wait until then to get involved, because nominations open today!
A major highlight of the mortgage industry calendar in Scotland, the awards celebrate the brightest and the best talent in the sector north of the border, showcasing the excellence and the achievements of a truly vibrant market.
Sponsored by Mortgage Introducer and its publisher, KM Business Information, the awards will be presented at a glittering gala event at the prestigious Sheraton Grand on June 19 next year. It is a spectacular evening in which scores of industry professionals mark the triumphs of another successful year of business. A fabulous celebration, as well as a superb networking opportunity, guests will enjoy an arrival cocktail party, plus a sumptuous sit-down dinner and the hugely inspiring awards ceremony, which never fails to delight and thrill the many people present.
Next June may seem a little way off, but there really is no time to waste to ensure that The Scottish Mortgage Awards recognise those who really do deserve to be celebrated for their great work. With nominations opening today, you only have until January 24 to nominate someone – be it yourself, a colleague, a valued industry contact or, perhaps, one of your employees – for a top honour.
There are a wealth of awards categories in which to nominate, covering the breadth and depth of a remarkable profession – everything from BDM of the Year to Rising Star of the Year (Broker), Business Leader of the Year (Lender) and the Woman of Distinction. Then, there are trophies too for Broker of the Year across various regions, Best Overall Broker in Scotland, as well as Specialist Lender, Later Life lender and Distributor of the Year, plus much, much more.
The event will also recognise the invaluable work that the industry does beyond its day-to-day mortgage business, with the award for Excellence in Philanthropy & Community Service.
What makes The Scottish Mortgage Awards special?
Alistair Ewing managing director, of Perth-based specialist mortgage broker The Lending Channel, was present at this year’s big night in Edinburgh and he clearly appreciates how the Awards shine a spotlight on mortgage talent in Scotland.
“The majority of awards events are UK-wide and often don’t feature many Scottish businesses,” Ewing told Mortgage Introducer. “So when a Scottish broker does get nominated, it will always be received with a high degree of personal pride – and sometimes surprise!
“The external validation that third parties have rated a broker so highly is a valuable compliment, and probably more so for smaller firms. And to then win an award, particularly if they are a first time winner – the sense of achievement will be very exciting.”

What does it mean to win at The Scottish Mortgage Awards?
For broker Richard Jennings, winning Broker of the Year (Regional – Dumfries & Borders) at this year’s ceremony was highly memorable, and evidently quite a shock for him.
“I attended the Scottish Mortgage Awards in 2024 for my first time, more out of curiosity and a chance to network with other Scottish brokers,” Jennings shared. “I certainly did not expect to win the regional broker award. I think this was evidenced in my lack of a speech and my total ramble up on stage. I was absolutely delighted to have won.”
It is clear Jennings’ very well-deserved success at The Scottish Mortgage Awards has had quite an impact on him and his business, in truly measurable ways.
“As a small independent brokerage, this win has provided the catalyst in terms of my own self-belief, but that of others within the housing market,” he explained. “Following the win I have taken on new offices in Dumfries, providing us a high street presence, we have gained some introducers and seen our growth increase off the back of the award.”
So, without further ado, this is the time to put the great and the good in the frame and to make sure that they are among the names picking up the honours at The Scottish Mortgage Awards next June. For more information and to make your nomination count, go here.
And remember, nominations close on January 24, so please don’t delay in playing your part in this truly wonderful celebration of the Scottish mortgage industry.
