Story will help build and implement new IT and e-commerce within the group, whilst also monitoring and analysing the market with a view to integrating both lender and insurance systems wherever possible.
With over 15 years experience in IT, Story has held a number of senior roles within the finance industry and has also had close contact with numerous standards agencies and groups. These include Origo and Ian McKenna’s Adviser Forum where he was instrumental in ensuring the shape of e-commerce within the IFA industry was aligned to the needs of the IFAs themselves.
Prior to joining GHL Group, Story headed up e-commerce at Positive Solutions, the national IFA network. He was part of a team that produced the original business submission system that enabled the network’s IFAs to submit their applications to the company’s head office electronically. Story was also responsible for the implementation of an electronic commission reconciliation and payment system and likewise, an online, real time valuation instruction facility. His work within the Positive Solutions IT Team helped them win the Money Marketing ‘Technology IFA of the Year’ award, four times in the last five years.
Story said: “I am particularly excited about joining GHL Group at a time when they are channelling a great deal of resources into the development of their IT and e-commerce functions. My new role will enable me to utilise my experience in expanding the facilities we can offer our network members and at the same time continually assess where improvements and new additions can be made to our systems.”
Mark Smith, IT director for GHL Group, added: “With the rapid expansion of IT and e-commerce within the GHL Group, recruiting the right staff is extremely important and we are therefore delighted that Jonathan has decided to join us. His unique skills, abilities and experience will play a major role in the group’s aggressive development programme and we are certain he will excel in meeting the challenges that lie ahead.”
