There were some surprises in store for GMAC-RFC staff at the company’s annual roundtable this week. GMAC-RFC showed its 700 staff the company directors in a slightly different light - under the microscope at the Big Brother house.
The GMAC-RFC directors spent a day filming at the Big Brother house with Derek Laud, one of the 2005 Big Brother housemates. The video showed GMAC-RFC’s board, joined by Derek, discussing life in the Big Brother house and life on the board of a Top 10 mortgage lender.
The film brought an entertaining and engaging element to the company meeting and was very well received by GMAC-RFC staff. Each board director was ordered to the diary room to reveal their view on the biggest GMAC-RFC success in 2005; becoming a Top 10 lender, the success of the revolutionary ‘POSD’ system and winning prestigious awards featured in the answers. The ‘housemates’ were also required to complete tasks and nominate each other for eviction.
As well as the film, the roundtable also provided an important forum for staff to take part in interactive sessions, including open mike session with the board. Staff were also warmly congratulated for their part in GMAC-RFC’s great success in 2005, including achievements such as record sales and record portfolio sales. They were also presented with exciting future plans and 2006 company objectives. Given GMAC-RFC’s commitment to technology this year it is unsurprising to note that one example is to “continue to improve product innovation and speed to market”.
Jeff Knight, head of marketing services at GMAC-RFC, commented: “We put a lot of effort into communicating and engaging our associates. An engaged workforce delivers a much better service and our results show a very engaged workforce. Using entertainment helps to deliver the key messages and have some fun along the way.”
