The law firm hopes the number will reduce costs for brokers and provide additional capacity for direct lines into the firm, allowing it to deal with queries more efficiently.
The switch to an 0845 number follows on the back of significant investment in technology to enable the firm to effectively process the 35,000 to 40,000 calls it receives every month.
With this new facility, all Goldsmith Williams telephone and fax numbers will change to 0845 numbers, ensuring that anyone calling or faxing the firm from BT lines will only be charged at local rates.
Eddie Goldsmith, senior partner at Goldsmith Williams, commented: “We are changing these numbers in order to make it easier and cheaper for our brokers and clients to contact us – enhancing our promise of completions made easy.
“Not only will calls to Goldsmith Williams be cheaper but the new phone system will provide additional capacity to greatly increase the number of direct lines into the firm – helping to enhance communication between brokers and their Goldsmith Williams dedicated case handling teams.”
Commenting on the development, Ian Crampton, sales director at Ferndown Ltd, said: “This is good news. Any lender or firm switching numbers to reduce the costs incurred by their customers is providing a better service. At the end of the day, intermediaries are where the business is coming from. Depending on whether an organisation’s number is local rate, free, or neither will definitely impact on whether someone does business with them or not.”
