Bowden has been with the lender for 20 years and has been in financial services for 38 years.
Mike Jones, managing director of intermediaries and specialist brands at Lloyds Banking Group, said: "Gordon is a well-known and popular figure in the mortgage industry, and he leaves with our thanks and very best wishes."
The announcement of Bowden's retirement comes three weeks after Scottish Widows chief executive Toby Strauss stepped down.
