Guardian's critical illness offering was amended following adviser feedback.
Guardian has made changes to its critical illness offering following adviser feedback.
A key highlight include the addition of 100% payment conditions for selected illnesses where payment will be made if there is a definite diagnosis.
Cardiomyopathy, treatment in intensive care and Parkinson’s disease have all seen enhancements to their existing 100% payment conditions.
Alan Lakey, director at CI Expert, said: “When Guardian entered the market it was with a totally innovative approach that appealed to those advisers who focus on benefits as opposed to cost.
“Sadly, they have not enjoyed the market penetration their plan deserved and have had to pursue a premium reduction strategy.
“This has slightly weakened the value of their plan but nonetheless it remains an extremely high-quality offering that deserves greater consideration by advisers.”
Child cover has now been extended to the 23rd birthday without a requirement for full-time education, whilst claims for a benign brain tumour will no longer be paid without some form of treatment.
Type 1 diabetes has been reduced from a full payment condition to an additional payment condition, with less than £50,000 or 25% of the sum insured.
Guardian has also launched an accelerated life option to its combined life and critical illness offering.
