Membership of the Guild, which was launched in June last year in association with leading UK property website Homes-on-line.com, is free of charge but prospective members must have a Mortgage Code Compliance Board number.
Homes-on-line is the UK’s largest independent property website and attracts more than 10,000 unique visitors a day. It has more than 250,000 home movers and homeowners who subscribed to its weekly electronic newsletter.
Through the Homes-on-Line link, the Guild aims to help homebuyers to secure the best mortgage through the most appropriate adviser. Membership is available on-line at the Guild’s www.gpma.co.uk website where, once registered, members can log on and select the type of lead they wish to receive. Leads can be selected according to postcode areas, required mortgage amounts, type of mortgage including Buy-to-Let, adverse credit, self-certification and even European mortgages.
By scanning down a list of leads which have been filtered to meet their requirements, members can bid for individual leads in increments of £1 from £10 upwards. They will be able to see what amount is the current highest bid for an individual lead and adjust their pitch accordingly.
Guy Baker, Managing Director of Homes-on-line.com and a Director of The Guild of Mortgage Advisers, said: “The Homes-on-line website currently receives more than 400 leads a month from homebuyers looking to source a mortgage, so we are optimistic that through our link with the Guild we can provide visitors to our website with a valuable additional service whilst at the same time provide Guild members with a potentially lucrative source of additional income for a relatively small outlay.
“Unlike similar systems, Guild members will be able to select the exact type of lead they require for a price that suites them at the times they need the additional business. Also, because advisers will only receive the exact lead types that fit their business the applicant knows they have been referred to an adviser who is able to assist them effectively,” he said.
