Halifax top brass were thought to be right peed off with its valuation firm Colleys after one of their staff was filmed peeing on the outside wall of a Southampton property he’d just visited.
The Sun newspaper reported yesterday morning that the “Halifax worker” was caught on CCTV by a “shocked” property owner.
The householder told the paper: “I thought, ‘Hang on a second, he’s not, he’s surely not’. And then he did.
“I couldn’t believe it. He proceeded to urinate down the side of my house.”
The valuer – yet to be identified and might not even be from Colleys – had been given a cup of tea by the homeowner last Thursday and even inspected the bathroom of the £300,000 house before he trickled his treat in the garden.
A Halifax spokeswoman said: “We are not in a position to confirm whether the colleague was outsourced or from Colleys.”
Declining to say where “the colleague” was from, she added: “We have been made aware of an incident that took place during a customer valuation, which falls below the high level of service for which we strive for.
“We expect the highest standards from our colleagues and those employed on behalf of the group and are very sorry for any distress that the customer has experienced.“
One source close to the situation added: “Whoever this is is going to be in a right pile of doo dah. Undoubtedly Halifax will take a serious view on this. It’s strange how someone would just piss it up the wall like that!”
Halifax apologised to the homeowner and offered £500 compensation and cleaning costs for “the distress and inconvenience caused”.
