Halifax, which has partnered with 40 builders for the government scheme, reported 76% of the applications came from first-time buyers while around a quarter were received from homeowners.
Ian Wilson, head of sales at Halifax Intermediaries, said: "Our commitment to NewBuy has been clear since the scheme launched and receiving our 1000th application within six months is testament to that.
“We have processing teams dedicated to supporting these applications and brokers can benefit from our fully automated system when placing business.”
Wilson added: “We constantly review the range to ensure that we continue to lead the market when it comes to NewBuy.”
Broken down by region the South East topped the number of applications with 30% while the North produced 15% and Greater London 13% of applications.
The regions which have produced the least amount of applications are East Anglia with 4%, East Midlands with 5% and Yorkshire and Humberside with 6%.
