It claims to have seen significant demand from brokers
Private bank Hampden & Co has appointed Martin Hillyer (pictured) as its intermediary relationship director.
Hillyer joins Hampden & Co from Weatherbys Private Bank, where he served as the senior business development executive, overseeing relationships with introducers and intermediaries. He brings with him extensive experience from senior roles at Barclays, including his tenure as the head of key clients – wealth business development.
In his new role, Hillyer’s primary responsibility will be to cultivate and strengthen relationships with mortgage intermediaries. He will report directly to Hannah Berridge, the head of professional partnerships at the bank.
Hampden & Co, focusing on lending, deposits, and day-to-day banking services, has seen significant demand from mortgage brokers and various other professional intermediaries, such as wealth managers, financial advisers, accountants, and solicitors. According to the bank’s first-half 2023 results, announced in August, client numbers surged by 8% to surpass 5,000, with a notable increase in introductions from intermediaries.
In response to heightened client demand, Hampden & Co has been actively expanding its banking and senior management teams since last year. This expansion notably includes the appointments of Mark Plummer as the head of private banking in London and Claire Mann as the bank’s inaugural head of client propositions in November.
“Intermediaries really value working with partners who can serve their clients well, and that is where Hampden & Co excels,” Hillyer said. “I very much look forward to enhancing the bank’s intermediary relationships.”
Commenting on Hillyer’s appointment, Berridge said they were delighted to welcome the new intermediary relationship director to the Hampden & Co team.
“Martin has extensive knowledge of intermediation in the private banking and wealth market, and his proven ability to develop and deepen professional relationships will be key to our continued success,” she added.
