Due to the regulation being laid, it is clear that the introduction of HIPs is a certainty. The fact that the regulation was laid in time to be made before the parliamentary summer recess demonstrates the government’s commitment and means that there is adequate time for Home Inspectors to be fully trained and ready for June 2007.
Sean King, Director of movewithus, comments: “This announcement is an immensely positive milestone. The Government have shown their support for this initiative. Now the industry must get on with the actual implementation.”
He adds, “movewithus has been preparing for HIP since it was first proposed. We are already providing a pre 2007 HIP for customers who buy and sell with our agents. Everyone, including those that had their doubts over the regulation, must now collaborate to ensure the introduction in June 2007 is as smooth as possible. The industry has become fragmented in its views of HIPs and now is the time to pull together to ensure that home movers benefit from the essential point of HIPs – that the home buying and selling process becomes quicker, easier and less stressful for everyone involved.”
