Now that’s Tragic!
It was Buggles (aka Trevor Horn) who pronounced that video had indeed killed the radio star. Call the cops off we knows who done it. But, those crazy hipsters at Propertyfinder.com, are here to tell us that news of radio’s death has been greatly exagerrated. It’s alive and kicking, as Simple Minds might say.
Apparently we’ll all be going Radio Ga Ga over Propertyfinder’s brand awareness campaign on Magic 105.4FM. Yes, more adverts on the radio, just what today’s discerning music-lover is after. Propertyfinder, ‘the largest independent property portal’, are sponsoring the Traffic and Travel News on Magic. So, over the next few months, when you’re stuck in an endless traffic jam or it’s bucketing down for the 15th consecutive day, there’ll only be one name on your mind: Propertyfinder.com.
It’ll be even better if you’re a hopeful first-time buyer, bumper to bumper on the North Circular with your roof down in the pouring rain. Rub it in why don’t you? The release tells us that Propertyfinder’s name will be ‘broadcast 800 times’ from 21 March to 15 May, ‘a frequency considered by media-buyers to be “extremely heavy-weight”.’ The advertising equivalent of Jono Coleman then.
It’s interesting that the release mentions the 800 namechecks especially when Magic’s strapline is ‘more music, less talk’. I suppose it depends on how you define talk. Do the DJ’s mindless banalities count? Who are the DJ’s anyway? A quick look at the Magic website shows we have the following guys who ‘do a lot of work for charidee but don’t like to talk about it’: Graham Dene, Paul Phear and Steve Priestley. Didn’t he use to do Music, Games and Videos? A veritable ‘who the hell are they?’ of broadcasting talent.
But, I’m sure it will be a very successful campaign, after all Magic 105.4FM (‘more music, less talk’) have ‘1.6 million listeners daily’. You wouldn’t have thought there were that many faulty radios out there, would you?
