Over the first four months of 2005, average house prices searched against on Moneyextra have risen by just 0.8% to £206,918.001. The average mortgage being sought in April was £126,812, up just £804 since the end of 2004.
At £253,140 in April 2005, the average house price being searched against by movers was up 7.68% year-on-year, still rising four times faster than the headline rate of inflation (April CPI 1.9% yoy).
Over the last 12 months, the average salary of those looking for a mortgage using Moneyextra’s comparison tools has risen by just 2.85% to £41,680.
The average value of loans actually completed via Moneyextra Mortgages in April was £122,619.56, down from £139,632.53 in March.
The most popular mortgage lender in the month of April was First Active. For the third month in a row mutual lenders are in a minority in the top ten for the month and there are also only three mutuals in the top ten for the first four months of 2005.
