- Entrepreneur of the Year award-winner opens Glasgow office, supporting financial services in Scotland -
The expansion has been assisted by Scottish Development International (SDI), the joint venture between the Scottish Executive and Scottish Enterprise charged with inward investment for Scotland, and is backed by a Scottish Executive RSA grant offer of up to £1.5 million. SDI was supported by Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire in securing the project for Scotland.
Huntswood already employs over 200 full time staff and over 350 contract staff, delivering compliance, customer services, consulting, audit and training solutions to most of the UK's leading retail financial services companies. The decision to expand into Scotland follows a successful pilot operation which has already created 25 jobs.
Huntswood's Chief Executive, David Brownlow, who was earlier this month named Ernst & Young's Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, commented: "Huntswood is supporting financial services in Scotland, improving business processes and driving efficiencies. Speaking at Huntswood's press conference today in Edinburgh, Scotland's Enterprise Minister Jim Wallace welcomed the company's decision to site its new Scottish facility at Strathclyde Business Park in Lanarkshire.
He said: "The creation of 355 high quality jobs in the financial services industry is excellent news. The availability of a skilled and reliable workforce has played a major role in winning this project and demonstrates Scotland's excellent qualities as a location for operations to support the financial services industry".
