Registrations for the single-module qualification opened nearly two months ago in a joint venture between the ifs and the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB).
Keith Heron, chief executive of the NACFB, said: "The ifs Certificate in Commercial Mortgages provides an excellent grounding for anyone wanting to give advice on Commercial Mortgage products. Brokers who pass the examination will be eligible for a discount on full or associate NACFB membership."
Mark Roberts, head of faculty financial regulation at the ifs, added: "This is one way of opening up the market to those who perhaps might not have considered extending their business in this sector. The early take-up of the qualification indicates that the commercial lending sector is becoming more attractive to brokers who would usually advise on residential mortgages only."
