According to the FSA, only 500 applications for direct authorisation have been submitted compared with 135 two weeks ago.
In total, 9,800 firms had registered with the FSA by 20 February.
The discount period, which ends on 31 March is just over four weeks away. This offers a £600 reduction off the standard £1,100 fee.
Accord withdraw tracker products
Accord Mortgages were forced to withdraw their tracker products last week due to a surge in business volumes from £10 million to over £22 million a day.
Linda Will, managing director at Accord, said she expected levels to be back on an even keel within the working week.
Will added that Accord promised to alert brokers 48 hours before products were pulled and the e-mail was sent out on Friday, 20 February.
