After that, brokers need to give three month’s notice if they intend to leave the network, except for those migrating on to directly authorised status.
“I don’t think the networks are doing enough to help brokers by offering them the flexibility they need during this time of significant change,” said Sally Laker, managing director of Mortgage Intelligence.
“What I sense brokers really need is a halfway house, a chance to hedge their bets. We hope this approach will provide them with the chance to see for themselves what Mortgage Intelligence is made of without a long-term commitment.”
Commenting on the offer, Matthew Bright, managing director of Optoma Broker Solutions, said he welcomed any programme that encouraged brokers to start making up their minds as to which route they intended to take.
“It is in the industry’s interest that brokers get to try out the options available to them,” he commented.
However, he questioned whether brokers would be able to extract themselves from a network in just a month, saying there would still be commissions owed after this period.
