The England captain who has a history of gambling did the deal last June, revealed Land Registry records.
Terry, who earns £170,000 a week, purchased the property in Oxshott, Surrey with Coutts for £2.25m in July 2003.
Since then he remortgaged the property with Northern Rock 12 months later, remortgaged it again with Coutts in March 2006, and remortgaged it yet again in 2009, before last June’s latest remortgage for £4.65m, Land Registry figures show.
The footballer’s home loan is now more than twice the value of his mansion when he bought it.
Terry has also remortgaged his mother-in-law’s property the same day he remortgaged his mansion in an apparent move to generate cash to build a luxury estate from scratch.
A Sun source said: “It is very unusual behaviour for someone earning significantly more than half a million pounds a month.”
Terry has won planning permission to turn his mother-in-law’s site into a 10-bedroom super mansion.
Locals were outraged at the plans for the super mansion with some branding it a “monstrosity”.
The Sun reported that a friend of the England captain said viewers “raised questions over taste” after Terry astroturfed the front garden.
Terry’s monthly repayments are likely to be about £13,500, based on current premium account rates. His mother-in-law’s property would add around £4,700.
