In total registrations for the new build guarantee reached 13,539, with new homes making up 10,300 of these applications.
Richard Tamayo, NHBC’s commercial director, said that July had been a “bumper month” for new home registrations especially in the private sector.
He said: “As we have emphasised over the course of the year this recovery is from a relatively low base but nevertheless reveals that builders are beginning to meet the growing demand to provide the new homes that the country desperately needs.
“Looking ahead we hope that the rest of the year continues this long overdue recovery story.”
Quarterly registrations continued to rise with the period of May to July 2013 seeing a 30% increase in numbers to 37,738 compared to the same period in 2012.
Of the total there were 27,028 private registrations representing a 25% yearly increase while public sector registrations during this time rose to 45% to 10, 710.
