Donation covers over a quarter of the charity's annual fundraising target
National broker firm Just Mortgages announced at their recent annual conference that £20,000 was raised by staff for donation to their chosen charity, the Magic Moments Children’s Charity.
The contribution helps towards the charity’s annual fundraising target of £75,000.
The charitable organisation was set up in 1998 by Alick Smith, the then chairman of independent estate agency Spicerhaart, and his wife Val.
The charity currently supports 13 children’s hospices around the country that are situated close to the Spicerhaart branch network which enables staff to get involved and see the difference the fundraising makes.
The organisation formally known as the Fantasy Charity Fund has raised in excess of £1 million over the years, and is dedicated to helping children from the supported hospices and their families on annual trips to Disneyland Paris.
Any additional funds in the charity pot have historically been used to provide vital equipment, electrical appliances, hoists to lift the children in and out of their beds or baths, and toys for the children’s hospices.
“Even in the midst of great pressure on individual finances, staff have once again shown an amazing commitment and dedication to fundraising and their individual generosity and generosity of spirit will make such a difference to the children supported by Magic Moments,” John Phillips, national operations manager at Just Mortgages, said.
“It was a tremendous honour to be able to announce at our annual conference that we are going to be able to present a cheque of £20,000 to the charity. I am hugely proud of all our staff, and also humbled by the wonderful work done by the team at Magic Moments.”
