With more home buyers turning to shared ownership, Just Mortgages has announced that it is hosting its first annual New Build and Affordable Housing Event.
The full day event, which will be held on March 31 at Whittlebury Hotel in Northampton, is free to attend and focuses on the financing of shared ownership and the role of housing associations, local authorities, developers and lenders.
There will be an exhibition, seminars, and panel sessions featuring key figures within the shared ownership space.

Just Mortgages said that over the past year, its new build division had seen a rise in inquiries and sales from home buyers interested in shared ownership.
The company also said that with house prices out of reach for many people and restrictions on Help to Buy introduced in April 2021, shared ownership had become popular because it is more affordable with only a 5% deposit of the share of the property being bought needed.
“All of our brokers across the whole of the country are receiving much more interest in shared ownership than they ever have before. In addition, housing associations are providing more new shared ownership homes as well as seeing a rise in inquiries,” John Doughty, financial services director at Just Mortgages’ new build division, said.
“We felt it was an ideal time to get people together who shared a common interest in affordable home ownership. Our New Build and Affordable Housing Event is a first for the sector and will be a great learning and networking opportunity for lenders, housing associations and other interested parties,” Doughty said.

“Shared ownership continues to play a crucial role in helping people realise their aspirations of owning a home of their own, so we’re delighted to be supporting Just Mortgages New Build with this event,” Andy Dean, head of intermediary support and new build at Nationwide, said. “It comes at a time when saving for a deposit, as well as the ability to borrow enough on their mortgage, continues to be a significant hurdle to home ownership.”
“As the new build market evolves after the withdrawal of Help to Buy in 2023, it is fundamental that we invest time discussing the options available to first-time buyers,” Rachael Hunnisett, national accounts and new build lead at Skipton Building Society for Intermediaries, said. “It’s a fantastic idea to dedicate an event to this subject… Events like this provide us with an opportunity to listen to broker feedback firsthand.”
