HM Land Registry, the body responsible for the registration of the ownership of property inEngland and Wales, has been hit by technical difficulties.

In a statement it said: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our phone lines.
"We are working on resolving the problem."
The Land Registry had been the subject of privatisation plans over the last few years.
However Chancellor Philip Hammond put an end to speculation about Land Registry privatisation and shelved the plans in the Autumn Statement last year.
At the peak of the property boom in 2007 £1m worth of property was processed every minute by Land Registry.
