Legal & General announces leadership transition in retail protection

Legal & General Retail has announced that Claire Beardmore, partnerships director for retail protection, will step down from her role at the end of February 2025, as she prepares for retirement.

Natalie Hyett, currently growth director at Legal & General, will succeed Beardmore as partnerships director.

Hyett has spent the past five years within Legal & General’s Retail division, working across distribution, product and propositions, transformation, and fintech investments.

Ali Crossley, managing director of distribution at Legal & General Retail, praised Beardmore’s leadership during her tenure, which began in January 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite the challenges that followed, Claire’s calm and focused leadership helped steer the team through uncertain times,” Crossley said. “Her dedication has fostered strong and enduring relationships with our partners, which have been pivotal to our success.”

She also expressed confidence in Hyett’s ability to step into the role, adding that she knows “the team will be in great hands with Natalie as we continue to focus on delivering great outcomes for our customers and partners.”

Meanwhile, Beardmore reflected on her time at Legal & General, saying she had been fortunate to work closely with so many people across their partnerships.

“Together, we have delivered a huge amount for our respective customers and businesses,” she added. “I hope to stay in touch and hear how things are going in the future.”

Commenting on her appointment, Hyett acknowledged the responsibility of her new role and paid tribute to her predecessor.

“Claire is an exceptional leader and leaves big shoes to fill,” Hyett said. “I’m especially pleased to work with her on a thorough handover before she leaves to enjoy her retirement. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and exploring the opportunities ahead.”
