L&G and Nationwide extend protection distribution deal

Five-year renewal to enhance mortgage and protection service integration

L&G and Nationwide extend protection distribution deal

Legal & General Retail Protection has secured a new five-year distribution agreement with Nationwide Building Society, extending a partnership that dates back nearly two decades.

Under the renewed deal, the two firms have jointly created a revised referral model designed to better integrate protection offerings for Nationwide mortgage customers. The aim is to streamline the process and align it more closely with customer needs by combining Nationwide’s mortgage expertise with Legal & General’s protection capabilities.

The agreement will continue to provide Nationwide clients with access to a range of products including income protection, family and personal income plans, business protection, and independent critical illness cover.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Nationwide for a further five years,” said Natalie Hyett, director of partnerships at Legal & General Retail. “We have worked closely together to deliver protection solutions that dovetail with the Nationwide mortgage and digital distribution models. We are confident that together, we will ensure Nationwide customers can take out protection policies to suit their needs through their channel of choice.

“The new model allows for closer collaboration between Nationwide and L&G, to ensure we offer a seamless service. This allows us to focus on what we do best: Nationwide on the mortgage element, and ourselves on the protection conversation.”

Darren Black, head of protection and insurances at Nationwide Building Society, also welcomed the extension of the lender’s long-standing partnership with Legal & General.

“They are a trusted partner with huge expertise in the protection market and a shared focus on doing the right thing for customers,” Black said. “Their products play an important role in helping our customers feel secure and supported. Together, we continue to evolve both our products and how we offer them, so that every customer can find the right protection in a way that works for them.”
