Wilkinson is currently working out his notice period and has declined to take up a different position offered by L&G.
Graham Newitt, managing director, Intermediary Solutions, at Legal & General, said: “The Legal & General Partnership is trading very successfully. In line with the whole of the industry we all suffered initial teething problems at ‘Mortgage Day’ but these problems are now largely behind us and we are achieving our targeted levels of business.”
“John is not being pushed or blamed. We have a lot of respect for him and he is still working in the business working out his notice period. Following an internal restructure he was offered a new role but has decided to pursue a career elsewhere.
“We wish him every success for the future and appreciate the significant role he has played in the management of the Legal & General Partnership,” Newitt said.
But one source told Mortgage Introducer: “I think there is a discrepancy within L&G. Its mortgage network hadn’t gone as well as expected when it was set-up. And now heads are rolling. It has got a lot right with its network but it didn’t take people on the journey with it, including staff and partners.”
