Legal & General carried out a review of its underwriting application process following consultation with its advisers with the aim of making the process quicker, more efficient, and ultimately easier for customers to get protection.
The improvements include simplified questions and the removal of jargon from the application, alcohol related questions are now easier to answer, occupations are now easier to find on the application form and shorter family history questions.
Russ Whitworth, claims and underwriting director at Legal & General, said:"Simplified 2 means that we will be providing advisers with market leading point of sale decisions. 80% of clients will now get an immediate decision.
“This will enable more people to be covered straightaway and contribute to generating commission for advisers sooner.
“Often the process of applying for protection is criticised as overly complex and difficult but hopefully Simplified 2 will go some way to redressing that and making the lives of advisers and their clients easier."
