The workshops, which demonstrate a technical knowhow in addition to product knowledge, are CII CPD accredited, meaning they are recognised as high quality.
Richard Kateley, head of specialist protection at Legal and General, said: “There are circa 4.9 million private sector business in the UK and 99% of these are SMEs with less than 50 employees.
“These are the very companies whose future would be most affected by the loss of a key person or business owner and therefore benefit most from advice on business protection from an adviser.
“I believe that it falls to the protection industry as a whole to raise the awareness of the risks SMEs in the UK could face if they lost a key person or business owner and to make sure that their protection needs are recognised, explained and fully met and I hope that the work we do with advisers, through our workshops will help to drive this.”
Legal and General has already helped hundreds of firms enter the business protection market.
David Clare, managing director of Flexible Health Insurance Brokers, added: “Legal and General’s training has helped us immensely.
“We have been able to diversify our business to develop a dedicated business protection team.”
