The research reported that instant offers would also be a welcome service, with three-quarters of respondents (75 per cent) saying that this is one of the most positive facilities that could be developed.
According to the research, 66 per cent of respondents said that auto approval of applications would be welcome, while 61 per cent said email confirmation of the issue of an offer would make it easier for them to do business. Other popular services included automated valuations (57 per cent) and data transfer (52 per cent).
Facilities considered to be least useful to packagers were the online instruction of solicitors (29 per cent). And compared with the last survey, there has been a reduction (from 30 per cent to 14 per cent) in the proportion of respondents saying that online additional borrowing would have the most positive impact on their business.
Nigel Payne, managing director at TMB, said: “These figures illustrate how important online technology is when pushing through mortgage applications. Small things such as email confirmations and local printing of offers make a huge impact on business. TMB is committed to developing useable and friendly technology to make it easier to do business with us.”
