Loughborough and Skipton anounce partnership

Through a deal facilitated by Skipton’s subsidiary company, Mutual One, the contract with the Loughborough will deliver not only a fully managed IT system, but also all equipment, maintenance, network management and a technical helpdesk.

Stephen Peete, chief executive of Loughborough Building Society, commented “There is no doubt that smaller building societies such as the Loughborough face a challenge in this day and age to run a profitable business within the guidelines of regulation, whilst keeping a focus on their key areas of mortgages and savings. A primary consideration in our business is areas of risk, and when you don’t have a vast amount of resources, having an internal IT department can be a considerable risk for an organisation of our size. The Society's Board looked at a number of alternative suppliers, using a range of different criteria, to ensure that the choice was the best possible match to the Loughborough's requirements.

'That is why we have selected Skipton Building Society, through Mutual One, to supply our IT services in their entirety, so we can concentrate our efforts on delivering the best products and services we can for our members.”

Derek Bond, Skipton’s General Manager – IT, added, “It’s important to Skipton that we are part of a mutual movement which is actively thriving, not just surviving, and we are therefore delighted to welcome the Loughborough on board the bureau service. By meeting all of the Loughborough’s IT needs, its executives will be free to focus on what they do best – running a building society. This is something that we believe is relevant to many others in the sector and why we have put an exclusive proposition together, through Mutual One, to offer incremental savings as more societies take advantage of the service.”
