The company has improved its standing by two places since last year.
This ranking marks a good twelve months for GMAC-RFC. During 2002 alone, the company advanced £3.3 billion in mortgage loans - a staggering increase of more than 80% on the previous year, in a market that only grew by 36%.
Stephen Knight, Executive Chairman of GMAC Residential Funding, said: "We are delighted to move up to become the UK's 13th largest mortgage lender, a position that we have achieved in just 5 years. We will continue to build on our strong position in the mortgage market during the coming year, with the aim to increase our market share even further."
