Canning, who was previously national branch and agency manager for Yorkshire Building Society, takes over from Will, who had been at the helm since the lender’s inception in April 2003.
In a statement, Yorkshire BS said Will had left to pursue other career opportunities.
The society’s chief executive, Iain Cornish, said: “Linda’s contribution to the establishment of Accord Mortgages cannot be over-stated and she is very well regarded and widely respected in the intermediary market place. Her success in developing Accord since its launch as a standalone brand follows many other achievements during her time at the Yorkshire BS.”
Cornish believed that Canning was ‘ideally placed to lead the next phase of Accord’s strategic development’, which would include the launch of electronic client verification.
In a separate company development, Iain Smith, sales director at Accord, said the introduction of electronic client verification was part of the company’s ongoing drive to improve the mortgage application process for brokers.
“What we’re looking to do is streamline the process, because with the speed that technology develops, you can’t sit back and think you’ve cracked it. Technology brings the ability to make it easier for brokers to deal with lenders and this is another piece in the jigsaw. We could have waited and launched it at the same time as our point-of-sale technology next year, but we wanted to get it out there now and help our intermediaries.”
