Melton Building Society announces new chair

Melton Building Society has appointed Sue Douthwaite (pictured) as its new chair, effective September 1, 2024.

Douthwaite will succeed Fiona Pollard, who is stepping down from the role.

Douthwaite joined Melton Building Society’s board in May 2021 and has served as chair of the board for its subsidiary, Nexa Finance, since January 2022. She has held various leadership positions in financial services, including managing director of Santander Business at Santander UK and head of SME strategy for Virgin Money.

In addition to her role at Melton, Douthwaite has been chair of the NHS Business Services Authority since April 2022 and is a non-executive director at British Business Investments. She also chairs the advisory board for Queen’s University Belfast’s Business School.

Commenting on her appointment, Douthwaite said it would be a privilege to lead the board at Melton Building Society as it enters its 150th year.

“I look forward to working alongside my colleagues at the society to guide them during this transformational journey to increase and develop our digital capability and to remain part of our communities and serve our members for another 150 years,” she said.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to extend our gratitude to Fiona for her guidance since her appointment to the board of directors back in 2014 and for her leadership during her tenure as chair.

“Having been involved in transformational fintech projects and the successful delivery of new operating models, systems and culture, I am delighted to be appointed chair of the board of directors as we continue to progress on the digital development journey the society is embarking on.”
