Melton Building Society introduces new non-executive director

Melton Building Society has announced the appointment of Michele Ibbs (pictured) as its new non-executive director.

Ibbs, who brings a wealth of experience to the role, joins the Board following a nine-year tenure with Marsden Building Society, where she served as senior independent director and chaired the Board Nominations and Remuneration Committees.

Ibbs’ extensive background includes roles at The Ombudsman Services Limited and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She currently chairs the Board at Connexus Homes Limited and serves as a shareholder representative for the Cambridgeshire County Pension Fund on the board of Cambridge and Counties Bank Limited. Her career spans both private and public sectors, with notable positions at Wedgwood, Princes Foods, Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd, and Liverpool John Moores University.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Board at Melton Building Society and to have the opportunity to help build on the successes of the society as it enters its 150th year,” she said.

Ibbs highlighted her eagerness to collaborate with the Board to advance the Society’s digital development. She emphasised her commitment to representing the membership’s interests and enhancing the integration of digital and face-to-face services.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside the rest of the Board and CEO Simon Taylor as we continue the digital development journey the society is taking. I’m delighted to be representing the views of the membership,” she said.

Founded in 1875, Melton Building Society is a community-focused mutual institution with five branches in Melton, Grantham, Oakham, Stamford, and Bourne. The society boasts over 40,000 members and is known for its customer-centric approach in providing mortgages and savings solutions.
