Attendees can explore sessions on market trends, specialist finance, and many other topics
The Mortgage Business Expo (MBE), a leading event for intermediaries in the mortgage industry, has unveiled its full seminar programme for its London show, MBE South, scheduled to take place on October 10 at the Business Design Centre.
The event will feature the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association’s (FIBA) specialist property finance club seminars, along with a range of other sessions tailored to mortgage professionals. Rob Barnard, director of intermediary relationships at Pepper Money, will chair many of the seminars.
Rob Elder, the Bank of England’s agent for Greater London, will deliver the keynote address, offering insights into the economic outlook for the housing and mortgage sectors.
The first session, “General Market Overview,” will be chaired by Barnard and feature industry leaders including FIBA chairman Martin Reynolds, HSBC UK’s Richard Beardshaw, Atom bank’s Karen McGrath, and Mortgage Brain’s Neil Wyatt.
Following this, FIBA will host two standalone sessions chaired by consultant Adam Tyler. The morning seminar on bridging and development finance will include speakers from MFS, OneSavings Bank, LendInvest, and Together.
In the afternoon, the focus will shift to “Expanding Your Business Through Specialist Property Finance,” with input from experts at Coreco Commercial, MFS, Foundation Home Loans, and Blacks Solicitors.
The day will conclude with a joint FIBA and MBE panel on “The Changing Face of Buy-to-Let,” again chaired by Barnard. Panellists will include Martin Reynolds, MT Finance’s Gareth Lewis, and a representative from Nationwide Building Society.
A fireside chat will explore the merits of AR (Appointed Representative) and DA (Directly Authorised) business models, featuring brokers Ahmed Bawa of Rosemount Financial Solutions and Richard Merrett of Alexander Hall.
A seminar on “Residential Mortgages: The Ongoing Affordability Challenges and Obligations” will follow, featuring speakers from The Mortgage Lender, Atom Bank, Bank of Ireland, and Nationwide.
Fintech presentations will also be part of the programme. Ifthikar Mohamed, Director at MortgagX, will discuss the role of AI in transforming the broker’s role, while Andrei Lebed, CEO of Koodoo, will explore how generative AI is impacting the mortgage industry.
The later life lending sector will also be covered in a seminar chaired by Kelly Melville-Kelly from the Equity Release Council, alongside panellists from KR Group and the Equity Release Council.
Additional sessions include a presentation from Keystone Property Finance’s Elise Coole, a mental health seminar with Jason Berry from the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter, and a technology panel on how AI supports the advice process.
In the Marketing Theatre, Google Digital Garage will hold three sessions focused on social media strategy and marketing. A session titled “Be Easy to Mind and Easy to Find” will be led by Jeff Knight, founder of the Broker Boost Initiative, and Marcus Goodyear from Anywhere Works.
