The survey showed that more than £1 billion of fraud cases were heard at UK courts in 2008 - the second highest level of fraud since KPMG started its Forensic’s Fraud Barometer.
Whilst mortgage fraud was valued at £36 million in 2008 - up from just £3.7 million in 2007 – KPMG believes there is worse to come as most of the fraud committed since the credit crunch has yet to come to court.
